Midwife Fellowship
The Boca Babes OBGYN Midwife Fellowship is competitive one year private practice program designed for certified nurse midwives who have just graduated from a midwife training program or are interested in returning to midwife practice.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited certified nurse midwifery program
Board certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board
Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Licensure by the Florida Board of Nursing prior to program Start date
Program
Our Nurse Midwife Fellowship program is an in-depth program designed to give midwives confidence in practicing obstetrics and gynecology in a private practice setting. Fellows will learn under physician and midwife mentors within the practice.
The program consists of one year of training in both the private practice office and hospital setting. Fellows will cover office hours seeing patients alongside mentors and cover hospital rounds, regular on call duties, deliveries, and assist in surgery.
It is expected that during the fellowship year, fellows will work about 2000 hours in the office or hospital and cover call duties.
Fellows will also have dedicated weekly didactic time with mentors covering critical aspects of obstetrics and gynecology relevant to their educational needs.
Fellows may be asked to attend educational conferences or certification courses.
At the end of the year fellows will have exposure to and competence in the following:
Obstetrics:
Prenatal Management
Labor Management
Obstetric Ultrasound performance and interpretation
Exposure to high-risk obstetrics and management of complex obstetrical patients alongside physicians
Vaginal deliveries
Repair of vaginal lacerations
Cesarean Section First Assist
Post partum and Post op management
Gynecology:
Annual Well Woman Exams for women of all ages
Fibroid Management
Abnormal Uterine Bleeding Management
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Management
Endometriosis Management
Contraception Management
Menopause Management
Hormone Replacement Therapy Management
Colposcopy
IUD insertion and removal
Nexplanon insertion and removal
Gynecologic Ultrasound performance and interpretation

Stipend and benefits
Stipend
Midwives in the fellowship program are paid a stipend of $80000 per year in bi-weekly payments.
Housing
Fellows are responsible for obtaining their own housing arrangements within 30 min of Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Bethesda Hospital East.
Benefits
Health, Dental, Vision, Long term and Short term disability insurance is available to fellows enrolled in the program.
401K is available for fellows
Fellows are also given 3 weeks paid time off for vacation
Fellows are promised an interview at the end of the fellowship to join the team as a midwife associate.
